From Real Experience to Fiction

The experiences gained throughout my RCMP career inspired my writing as a crime novelist. While The North Shore Murders is a work of fiction, its investigative techniques, police procedures, and operational details are grounded in real policing experience.

I served more than thirty-three years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, gaining extensive experience in organized crime investigations, confidential informants, undercover operations, and international policing. During my career, I worked on the Air India Flight 182 investigation, the bombing and downing of a Boeing 747 that claimed the lives of 329 people, most of them Canadian citizens. I also served as both a diplomat and Police Liaison Officer in South Asia, where I was on the ground during the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

These are real stories from my life in the RCMP.

Some names and locations have been changed to protect people’s privacy. The memories are mine to share.

As I write these stories I often pause to reflect on the lives lost and the profound impact these moments have had on me and my family. 

I offer these stories as a window into my life of policing.
